moore joins us to talk about that and separate fact from fiction when it comes to the numbers. >> thank you for asking that question about the spending side of the ledger. the laos two or three weeks the discussion has been about raising taxes and no discussion about reducing the amount -- the outgo. >> let's start there. if we stopped overspending, what would it take for the government to get lined up, to get rid of the debt and deficit. >> we've dug ourselves into a deep hole. when i came to washington we talked about the budget, deficit in the billions, now in the trillions of dollars. part of the problem is the numbers are large but it's a million, million dollars. the debt is $6 trillion and we're borrowing $1.1 trillion a year. the problem the president faces, even if he gets his tax increase on the rich in negotiations, and he may very well. that leaves him with a trillion dollars budget deficit. so even if we do the tax increases, mr. president, what comes next? that's where we have to start addressing the spending side. >> the conversation a lot of folks don't want to have. rep
